PVA FAQ’s


Is PVA part of Lucia Mar?

Yes! Pacific View Academy is the 19th school in the Lucia Mar School District. 


Do you follow the same school calendar as other Lucia Mar schools?

Yes, please refer to the district website for yearly calendar information.


Do I have to live in the Lucia Mar district to attend?

No, however you must get an inter-district transfer from your district of record.  For questions regarding inter-district transfers, please contact Nancie Brooks in the Curriculum Department at (805) 474-3000, ext. 1098.


How often do I have to meet with my teacher?

Frequency of meetings and on site time depends on the needs of the students and the master agreement requirements with input from the teacher.  We also have drop in times available for students to come in and work in a quiet space or get help from teachers along with weekly subject specific workshops. 


Do you offer sports or clubs?

Pacific View Academy does not have on site sports or clubs at this time, however students in good standing can participate in these activities at other Lucia Mar schools that offer them.


What hours are available for meeting with my teacher?

Meeting times are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.


Is there a cost to attend PVA?

No, PVA is a public school and part of the LMUSD family of schools.


Do you offer SpEd services?

Yes, some SpEd services are offered.  However appropriateness of PVA for any student with an IEP will need to be determined by the IEP team at an IEP meeting prior to enrollment.


Is there a summer program?

Pacific View Academy does not offer summer school on site at this time.  Please see the Lucia Mar website for summer school offerings in the district. 


Do you provide transportation?

No, we do not offer transportation to our site.

Is there a deadline to apply?
No final decision deadline has been determined as of yet, other than school start date.
 
Is there a cap on enrollment?
At this time, there is not a cap.  We are planning to staff the school based on need.
 
If a student enrolls, do they have to stay for the school year, or can they return to their school of residence?
Returning to their own school sites is an option. That would ideally happen at the semesters and/or quarters/trimesters.
